Bedrooms and nurseries

Rooms people sleep in get a longer plan

A bedroom is the room people ask us about first, and a nursery is the room they ask about most. We paint both the same way: slowly, one at a time, with the data sheets in your hands first.

Pick the colors, pick the night. We write down the product's drying times and how long we plan to air the room, and then you say when it is ready to use.

A bedroom, in order

From the first day to the first night

The usual order for one room. Your estimate writes the real one, with your dates.

  1. Step 1: Before day one

Bedding, clothes, plants and rugs leave the room. You have the data sheets and have picked where to sleep.

  2. Step 2: Painting

Two finish coats after the repairs and primer, with the window open or the fan running as the plan says.

  3. Step 3: Airing

The room stays empty for the time the plan wrote down, with a fan at the window. We check on it with you before it is called ready.

  4. Step 4: Moving back

Everything goes back the way it was. You choose the first night, in the room or in another.

Plan around the household

Tell us before the estimate

  • Allergies and asthma

Tell us who is sensitive and to what. We note it on the estimate and choose products from the data sheets you have read.

  • Babies and nurseries

We paint the nursery first, so it has the longest airing before the baby's due date. We don't give medical advice; your doctor can.

  • Pets

Pets stay out of the rooms being painted. We tell you each morning which rooms those are.

  • Shift workers

Light sleepers and night workers: we can schedule the noisy prep and the painting away from your sleeping hours.

About painting bedrooms

Can we sleep in the room that night?

That is your decision, and the plan is there to help you make it. We give you the product's drying times and our airing plan for the room. Many households choose another room for the first night, especially with babies, asthma or allergies. We can't give medical advice; if you are unsure, ask your doctor.

Do you use low-odor paint?

We use premium paint and name the product on your estimate. The maker's product data sheet says what is in it, including the VOC content the maker states and the drying and recoat times, and we send the sheet for every product before we order. If someone in your home is sensitive to smell, tell us at the visit and we choose from products you can read about, not from the front of a can. Every paint has some odor, so we plan the airing instead of promising a room with none.

What if someone is sensitive to a product?

Tell us before the estimate. The data sheet for each product is yours before we order, and if one does not suit, we price another and send its sheet instead. We can't promise any paint will suit every person.

A room, and a plan for it

The estimate names the room, the product and the airing, and you get the data sheets before you sign.
